This is to the designs of local architects Paddock Johnson Associates, who are also responsible for a new block of apartments at the corner of Lodge Lane and Pool Bank completed in 2001, Philip Leverhulme Lodge, named after Lever’s grandson. Nor is this all, for in 2004 both the former nurses’ home and the hospital became subject to schemes of conversion for more housing following the collapse of their nursing home use. Nevertheless, despite all this activity, with new projects sited away from the central area and other changes confined to the rear areas, it is still possible to visit the village and see little change in its appearance since Lever’s time.
